About Us

Hi there, my name is Gareth Baker and I'm the creator of NZ Free Probate Applications.

While I'm not currently a practicing lawyer, I used to work for a general practice law firm handling estates. During my time there, I saw some of our clients charged big bills for probate applications, and it didn't feel right to me.

An executor with a bit of motivation and the right guidance can prepare a probate application themselves, and save thousands in the process. And that's what I made this website for.

When someone passes away, they leave behind a legacy. That includes their financial wealth, which they have worked hard to earn over their life. That wealth is distributed under the terms of their will — terms that most people carefully plan and think over.

If someone has taken the time and effort to make a clear will, then their wealth should be shared to friends, family, grandkids and loved ones with a minimum of fuss. And a minimum of legal fees.

This website is here to help do that.

I didn't create this to make money. We do not and would never store or sell data. My only goal is to help.
